Searching for new forms of self-expression? Collage, which means "to glue" in French is an established form of contemporary visual art. Create a work of art using materials such as hand-made paper, postcards, newspaper clippings, string, stickers, photographs, children's artwork, photocopies of personal writing, prints of artwork, advertisements, your own previous artwork, stamps, and other flat materials. If you are a person who wants to use silver ink or glitter, this could be an opportunity to incorporate unusual materials in an art project! Materials: glue sticks and/or rubber cement, paper towels, pencils, pens, colored pencils, art markers, several sheets of Bristol Board or cardboard stock appx 12 x 14. Sketchbook, scissors, ruler, quantities of paper materials as noted above to suit your personal taste.

Peat O'Neil was invited to participate in an exhibition 'Artists' Sketchbooks: The Intimate Journeys" in 1994 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. She is the author of Travel Writing: See the World, Sell the Story. In addition to a decade of online teaching for UCLA, Peat has also taught at GWU, Georgetown, Smithsonian Resident Associates and the USDA Graduate School. Her artwork has been featured at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Glen Echo Gallery and the Water Tower Gallery in Chicago.
